2004年的时候，纽约时报搞了一个有史以来千部最佳影片的评选(The Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made) ，大致看了一下，主要是想找出里面的华语片。因为列表是按字母顺序排列的，而且没有给出国家，所以很麻烦，不知道全不全。
张艺谋有四部入围，分别是”秋菊打官司”，”大红灯笼高高挂”，”菊豆”，”活着”。
陈凯歌有一部，”霸王别姬”。
李安有一部，”饮食男女”。”理智与情感”也有入围，但不是华语片。
杨德昌有一部，”一一”。
竟然没有候孝贤？莫非是我看花眼了？
